Expert Reply:

The minimum cross bar spread to install the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs part # TH898 is 24" apart. So the bars must be at least 24" apart for safe use. The maximum cross bar spread is 36" so it only fits cross bar spreads up to 36" apart. To make sure that your cross bar spread fits in this range you can measure from the center of the rear bar to the center of the front bar for the crossbar spread.

It also requires 28.5" of load bar space with 4-8" of bar overhang to use the lift assist feature. Otherwise the kayak may come into contact with the vehicle. I have attached a photo for your reference.
