Roof Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying ThruAxle Bikes on Roof of 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Question:

I need a rail type fork mount for a Crosstrek with factory crossbars. I have bikes with skewers and 3 sizes of thru axles. I have adapters for all 3 sized and 1 adapter for skewer front fork on fatbike. I have round crossbars on my other vehicles, so I cant transfer those Yakima racks to the Crosstrek. I dont want bikes on the back of my car, I want them on top. The only system I think will work is a fork mount with the adapters I already have, unless there is a fork mount that comes WITH adapters for all thru axle sizes. Looking at Yakima Forklift, Thule Outride, and Thule Circuit XT. Would consider others that span a 30inch bar separation and aero bars, and possibly accommodate 4 inch rear tires not totally necessary, I have been strapping tires on fatbikes down to narrow wheel holders for years. All the upright racks have a 3 in tire width limit, so those wont work. I cant use a rack with a clamp that swings up and over the skewer like some Inno models because an adapter would prevent closing the clamp. What are my options? I think I have looked at all you offer.

You didn't mention what size thru axles you have but the Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack # RU01 fits the 15 mm and the 20 mm thru axles as well as 9 mm. For a fat tire adapter this rack requires the # APBK as well even though said you weren't interested in that route. This is also perfectly compatible with a 30 inch crossbar spreads and round crossbars.

The Yakima HighSpeed # Y02115 fits the Thru axle sizes of 12 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm which is most likely the sizes you have. It is compatible with your bar size and spread as well. It does not need a fat tire adapter though so might be your best overall option!
