Could Having Different Axle Spacings on Trailer Contribute to Leaf Spring Failure
Question:
I fulltime m.j e in a 2015 Heartlands 4200 I am having constant problems with the suspension breaking. Last time the rear axle suspension broke and the rear most wheels actually kissed the center wheels and I could not move the rig. I noticed that there is uneven spacing between the rear axles. The spacing between the front most rear axle and the middle axle is about 34 inches. The spacing between the rear most axle and the center axle is about 32 inches. Is this normal? What can I do to repair or bolster the rear suspension system to keep from breaking down on the road?

Uneven axle spacing isn't a great sign and most likely is related to the issue. If the leaf springs are the same length and the hangers are spaced differently that would not be the safest setup though and it would be wise to move the hangers to allow you to have even axle spacings.
To prevent leaf springs from braking best option is to make sure you aren't overloading the springs that are installed and that all of the suspension components are installed properly in the correct locations. If you can get me the length of your current springs and the axle capacity I can see what would be the best replacement solution.
I also attached a link to a page that has all of the leaf springs we carry for you to check out. The filters on the page will allow you to select the length you need and the axle capacity.
