Upgrading 4.80-12 Tires on 4x8 Lowes Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 5x8 mesh trailer from Lowes. It comes with 12 inch tires rated for 990 pounds. I would like to beef them up a bit but im not sure which tire will for the trailer. Can you help me?

Based on my research the 5x8 mesh floor trailers from Lowes come equipped with 4.80-12 size tires, which you can verify by checking the sidewall on the tire itself. For the next size up that will provide a larger profile and a higher weight capacity, you can use a 5.30-12 tire (which will fit onto your existing wheels).

I specifically recommend the Taskmaster # TT53012C, which features a 1,050 pound weight capacity at 80 psi, a radial ply construction for much improved highway driving, and an excellent speed rating of 81 mph (most trailer tires have a 65 mph limit).

This particular tire will be just about 1.4" larger in height/diameter and 0.49" wider than what you currently have mounted. Unless the existing tires are super close to the fenders or frame sidewall, this much of a difference in size is not going to be an issue at all. I have attached a short video review on the tire that you can check out as well.
