Will the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Work With a Womens Step-Through Bike Frame

Question:

My wife has an ebike with a step through frame. Will the tension bar adjust enough to accommodate this lower frame on the bike? Thanks

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE part # HLY84FR will work with most step-through frame bikes. The best chance you have of this is to switch the short hook to the bottom and then the long hook to the top on the upright as that will then allow for the lowest connection point. That said, there isn't really a measurement for this so best option would be to order the Hollywood Racks Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # HRBA-PRO which is designed to provide an attachment point for step-through frame bikes and just return it if not needed. I really don't think you will need the adapter bar if the hooks are switched but better safe than sorry.

We are buying a bike rack for my daughter. She is getting a RadWagon, version 4. It weighs 77 lbs. The rack must also accommodate 2 other conventional bikes. Rad Power Bikes has recommended the Hollywood HR1455Z-E ,the SE2, $449.99 in the etrailer web site. The 2 addition (conventional) bikes will weigh about 50 lbs total. One of the conventional bikes is a “kids” bike. Since the rack assembly recommend is one bike short, is the container basket option applicable to the SE2 HR1455Z-E? I am thinking the the kids bike could be carried in the “basket” since it’s 52”wide / long. Let me know.

The problem there is if you go with the version that allows for the cargo carrier attachment, the per-bike capacity is just 50 pounds, not enough for the 77 pound RadWagon. The best solution is going to be with the 2-Bike Sport Rider # HLY84FR, which can handle bikes of up to 80 pounds each. You can add the Wheel Hoop Adapter # HLY24FR if needed for the second bike. Then the 3rd bike can either go onto the roof with a separate rack or simply inside the vehicle if it's small enough.

@ChrisR I just want to confirm the correct model as Saritha Ramesh from RadPower Bikes told me the Hollywood model HR1455Z-E. You are recommending the HR1460Z-E. I know I need the 80lb /bike rating but Rad Power Bikes know that info as well. Please confirm HR1460Z-E Thx
