Will the Swagman XTC-2 Platform Style Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2002 Honda CR-V

Question:

I just ordered the XTC 2 for my 2002 Honda CRV. Will it clear my spare tire that is attached to the rear door? If not, is there an extension available?

You will need to take an important measurement to determine if the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, will clear the spare tire on your 2002 Honda CR-V. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance required to clear the spare tire. If that distance is less than 9 inches, the rack will clear the spare tire.

However, you may find that the bike loaded nearest the vehicle could interfere with the spare. In this case, I do not recommend the use of an extension because it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. It would be much safer to remove the spare tire in the event the bike interferes.
