Can an Electric Trailer Jack be Powered from a 7-Way Trailer Connector

Question:

can the uf38 lift be wired direct to a 2011 dodge ram, thru the 7 pin wiring to operate the lift, in lieu of a seperate battery ?

While you could possibly run the power from the 7-Way to the jack, it is not ideal and you could overload the circuit. I recommend adding a battery to the trailer and providing a maintenance charge to the battery from the 7-Way.

You will connect the 12 volt circuit from the 7-Way trailer connector to the positive battery terminal. The jack will get its power from the trailer battery this way and not from the vehicle 7-Way. Having the wire to provide a maintenance charge will only maintain the charge level of the battery, it will not up charge it.

To up charge a trailer battery, use a charger like # CTEK56353.
