Brake Controller Installation On 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with Factory Installed 7 Way Connector

Question:

I have the seven way plug that came from the factory. The blue wire and the red and white are ran from the back of the truck to under the hood. The red wire is connected to battery with a fuse, the blue wire is just rolled up and tied under the hood. Is there a place to hook it up under the hood somewhere or should I run it thru the firewall under the dash and splice it to the blue wire that goes to the brake controller.

Helpful Expert Reply:

You won't have anywhere to hook the blue wire running from your factory installed 7 way to under the hood that will connect to the brake controller wire inside the cab of your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. For this reason, you will want to run it through the firewall and under the dash; once you complete that step, it can be connected to the blue wire coming out of your Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller # 5504 and allow you to have a functional brake controller to control the brakes on your trailer.
