Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for Parallel Base Rails on 1996 Chevy K2500

Question:

I have a 1996 k2500 chevy truck with the old style rbw 5th wheel rails installed already. The truck is a long bed and I was wondering if this hitch will work with the rails i already have or would i have to purchase a different system all together. The rails i have now run lengthwise front to back not fender to fender like the reese system i am currently looking at.

The Demco Hijacker SL Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6076SL-21K that you referenced does use similar parallel-running base rails to what you currently have with the older RBW units, however it's specifically designed to only fit the Demco model SL Series Base Rails. There isn't a 5th wheel hitch available anymore that will fit your RBW rails.

This means in order to use the hitch you will have to replace your rails with the Demco SL Series # DM8553009-12, which includes custom brackets for your 1996 Chevy K2500 long bed. I have attached the installation instructions below that you can also check out.
