Recommended Trailer Wiring For 2019 Toyota Highlander To Tow Camper With 7-Way Connector
Question:
I am going to be towing a camper with my 2019 Toyota Highlander and the trailer has a 7-way connector. My Highlander doesn't have any wiring though so what wiring would I need to connect to the trailer that has brakes?

To add a 7-way to your 2019 Toyota Highlander, the first thing you will need to add is a 4-way connector, and I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11141845 if your '19 Highlander does NOT have the factory tow package, or # HM11141825 if it DOES have the factory tow package. I like the Hopkins because these are the easiest installs.
The next thing you will need is the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L, which will give you a 7-way plug. This 7-way kit is designed to be used with a wireless brake controller, and for that I highly recommend the the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 because it is the easiest brake controller on the market to use.
It is controlled with an app on your smartphone, a device that you're already comfortable using so there is not going to be any unfamiliar hardware or poorly-written manual to keep poring over simply to use your controller.
