Could Horse Trailer with 7.5 x 16LT Tire Size be Replaced with 235/80R16
Question:
I have a cattle trailer with 7.5x16lt tires on a 6inch rim now and there is about 22inch of clearance between the inside sidewall and the trailer wall. if I go with a 16x7 rim and a st235/80r16 tire would the tire rub the inside wall of the trailer. I think the tire is 9.37 wide when inflated. the 7.5x16 tire is 8.5 inches wide measuring with calipers. I dont want to buy the tires and not be able to use them because the rub the trailer wall when mounted. Thanks.

I believe you meant to type that you have 2 inches of clearance between the wall/frame of your trailer and the inside of your tire's sidewall. Now if you were to go with a Kenda ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" HWT Aluminum Wheel 6 on 5-1/2 - LR E - Black # AM34969B the overall width difference in tire sizes would be .9 of an inch total which gets split on either side of the wheel so you'd end up losing a total of .45 of an inch of clearance between the tire and the trailer. That would leave you with enough clearance so it would work fine.
