Installation Process for Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement on 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
I Have a 2016 Ram 5.7 4 wh. drive truck. Am thinking about installing some sort of assistance to spring to help when towing our 26ft camping trailer. This Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Item # TDR1500DQ seems like a very simple inexpensive install. And it seems to provide help when towing something heavy. So, question is - does it just wedge in place of the bump stop ? No bolts or screws to hold it in? Just wedged ? Do they ever work themselves out ? I was also considering something like Hellwig helper spring.. although not sure it fits my Ram . Looking at # 990 Does that work for Ram ? Any opinion on using one or the other or both in conjunction? Im hoping to reduce any sway or instability in turns. I have a good E4 Equalizer hitch set up. thanks,

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR1500DQ that you referenced is a great solution for adding rear support to your 2016 Ram 1500 to help with the tongue weight from your 26 foot camper. The springs are indeed just going to replace the factory bump stops on the truck.
The install process is basically exactly what you described in your question. You will need to first pry out the existing bump stops out of the bump stop cup. Then, using a generous amount of soapy water, you will simply position the Timbren spring into the bump stop cup, pushing and twisting simultaneously until it's properly seated. No additional hardware is needed.
This is going to create just as secure a connection that the factory bump stop had. There isn't a concern with it popping out during travel. After the initial installation this is a completely maintenance free setup (set it and forget it!). I have attached the full installation manual below that you can also look through.
We don't currently carry Hellwig products, however I don't believe the 990 Helper Spring Kit they offer is going to work with the coil springs on your Ram. I truly believe the Timbren Springs along with the weight distribution system you already have installed is going to create a really stable ride while towing that you're going to be quite happy with.
