Altering Handle of 5000 lb Bulldog Jack
Question:
I have a bulldog sidewind 5,000 lb jack and was testing it to its 5,000 lb limit and found at just over 2000lb it became very difficult to operate. If I lengthen the handle to obtain more reduction will I have issues shearing the roll pins. Thank you

The reason you are having issues is that the Bulldog Jack you have, # BD195351 has a static capacity of 5000 lbs, which means that it can hold a maximum of 5000 lbs. The lift capacity of the jack is 3000 lbs, which explains why it becomes difficult to crank after 2000 lbs.
For a 5000 lb lift capacity, you would need to go with a higher capacity jack, like part # BD190751.
Altering the geometry of your jack handle will most likely damage the interior components, like you suspected.
