Can Wiring for Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock be Connected Prior to Door Opening for Protection
Question:
The instruction video says to splice the wires in the door. Could I not splice the wires before the door so they don’t move and bend all the time?

I definitely see where you're coming from but it's actually completely safe to route the wiring for the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8110 on your 2004 GMC Sierra in this manner. I suppose if you can find that wiring before the door it wouldn't be a bad idea but I honestly wouldn't be too worried about it because they have tested and approved the kit to be installed this way.
This whole kit does have a 1-year warranty and I'd imagine that if you have wiring issues due to the door it would happen well before a year is up. I have attached the installation video on the 2005 Serra for reference.
