Yakima FatCat EVO or Thule SnowPack for for Yakima RoundBars

Question:

Hi. I have round bars on Yakima towers that are mounted on my retractable tonneau cover on the box of my pickup. Normally I am transporting a pontoon boat on the bars. I am looking at the Evo 6 or the Thule snowpack ski racks for carrying skis while leaving the back of the truck for other gear. Does one or the other have a better adapter on the round bars? I am worried about the rack spinning around the round bar when skis arent in them. Thanks,

For your application I recommend using the Yakima FatCat EVO, Black # Y03096, over the Thule SnowPack, Black # TH7326B or Silver # TH7326, because the FatCat EVO has a piece of rubber on the top of the mounting feet to help keep it in place while the SnowPack is only a plastic piece.

With that being said, most (if not all) ski carriers will rotate some on round bars when the skis aren't installed. The rubber piece on the FatCat EVO will help minimize the movement but unfortunately that is just the nature of the round bars. If you'd like to upgrade to crossbars that keep that from happening then you can use the Yakima CoreBars which are made in the aero-style. Just let me know what the year/make/model is of your pickup and I can recommend what size to get and if you need any adapters for the legs.
