Troubleshooting 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter Where Circuits aren't Active But 4-Way Is Good

Question:

Thank you for your SUPER fast response :) do I need to connect that extra white wire that would be for a full 7 pin install? I left it untouched along with the other "extra" wires as I thought I only needed the 4 pin wires. I have no brake controller, it is a very light trailer.

Sounds like maybe the ground wire isn't connected properly if you are plugging in a known working 4-way to the # 30717 and you can't get the functions to work even with a tester.

I'd make sure the white wire is connected to a clean metal surface on the vehicle frame and try again.

You're very welcome! Yes you do need to connect the white ground wire to activate the pins of the 7-way adapter. You can easily test this with your current circuit tester by touching the ring terminal of the white wire to the vehicle frame and you should see the tester show function on the 7-way at this point. The other wires of the adapter do not need to be run though. Just the white wire.
