How To Fix/Replace Grease Zerk Fitting on a Dexter EZ-Lub Axle

Question:

I have broken zerk nipple on my boat trailer EZ Lube axle. What size/style zerk would be suitable replacement? Would these be threaded into or compression fit into axle?

Expert Reply:

The grease zerk fittings on a Dexter EZ-Lub Axle are threaded. If you broken off the one you have now you can use a screw/bolt extractor to remove the remaining threads and then use the Replacement Grease Zerk part # Gzerk to replace it which I can confirm will fit. If you can't get the old threads out or damage them in the process you can just leave it as is and install a set of Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors like part # BB1980A.

In order to confirm the correct Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors you will need to measure the diameter of your grease cap and then choose from the list below.
