5th Wheel Hitch for Reese Rails On a 2012 Ram 2500

Question:

I just purchased a used Ram 2500 4x4 short bed diesel with the Reese 30153 fifth wheel brackets in the bed, but not fifth wheel hitch. Which hitches will fit these brackets? And does anyone sell a gooseneck hitch that will fit these brackets?

The Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit part # RP56007-53 (RP56007 + RP30153) will work with several different types of 5th wheel hitches as well as gooseneck plates. The one I recommend for a 2012 Ram 2500 is the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30075 because it has a dual jaw design which grips the king pin tightly therefore improves ride quality. It also has a round tube slider that lets you slide the hitch back away from the cab which will be needed for tight turns with most trailers because of the short bed.

If you need to tow a gooseneck trailer then all you would need to do is obtain the Reese Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # RP58079 which will fit right into the rails just like the 5th wheel hitch would without any other parts required. That said, I do recommend the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness part # 50-97-410 as well for easy hookups but this is not required.
