Recommended Bike Rack for 2 e-Bikes That Can Be Used on Trailer

Question:

I have a Lance Travel Trailer with rear bumper bolt on 2 inch hitch. I notice the X2 model says not for RV or travel trailers. Not sure why not cause looks like it would work great. Which hitch would best fit my needs. I have 2 E Bikes one is standard tire and other is fat tire 4inch wide about 45 lbs. Prefer the tray style hitch like Saris X2. Suggestions?

I do have a great option for you, however as you discovered the Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4025F is not rated for use behind an RV or trailer. This is simply because the ride at the rear of an RV/trailer is much different than at the back of a standard passenger vehicle. The carrier has to withstand a lot more movement and bounce in this application and many just aren't constructed to safely handle this kind of abuse or haven't been tested appropriately to be officially rated to do so.

Saris has determined that the SuperClamp EX Bike Rack isn't suitable for life at the rear of a trailer.

For a platform-style rack that can support the weight of both your e-bikes and is approved for use with your Lance Trailer, I highly recommend the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR. This rack features a weight capacity of 70 pounds per bike, uses ratcheting padded hooks to hold the bikes by the frame, and includes a hitch and cable lock to help protect your investments.

Out of the box the E-Spec can secure tire widths of up to 3 inches so you would just need to add the Fat tire Adapter Kit # S64679 for your second bike. These replacement cradles will allow the rack to secure bike tire widths of up to 5 inches.

I have attached a couple short video demonstrations that you can check out as well.
