Easily Removable Fifth Wheel Hitch Option for 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

I have a 2018 Silverado 3/4 ton short bed with out the factory tow pucks in the bed. I'd like to install a fifth wheel hitch, but I'm none too thrilled about the idea of having those runners in my truck bed to get in the way of everything. I had that on my last truck and I hated it. Do you have a good solution? My top priorities are having the bed clear when the hitch is removed, and I also want a decent hitch. Years ago I had an entry-level Reese and wasn't impressed.

I have the perfect option for you.

The B&W Companion system consists of their tried-and-true Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1016-5W and a sliding fifth wheel hitch # BWRVK3400-5W that uses the gooseneck hitch to install to the vehicle. It's an ingenious set up that will allow your bed to be completely clear once the hitch is removed, and would also allow you to tow both fifth wheel and goosneck trailers if need be. The Companion offers superior ride quality with 1 inch thick jaws that have 360° contact with the fifth wheel's king pin. You'll find this hitch to be vastly superior to your old one and it's manufactured in the USA.

You'll also likely want a trailer connector installed in the truck bed. You could do so by using part # C56000.

I've linked you to some installation videos for the hitch and the wiring harness I recommended.
