At what point is the ladder measured from and too would it be where mounts end to end in a straight line not counting the contours

The Surco RV Ladder part # SP502L is 84-1/2 inches tall ladder and it's height measurement is measured from the very top of the ladder down to the very bottom.
I attached a picture that shows this dimension.
If you need a longer ladder Surco offers a 30-1/2-inch extension, part # SP504L, that would be ideal to extending down to your bumper.
