How to Use Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack for 2 Receivers with 1-1/4 Receiver
Question:
I have a Thule T2 Pro XT 2 bike rack that fits a 2 inch receiver, but my 2019 Subaru Outback has the standard 1.25 factory hitch. Whats the best adaptor to buy for my bike rack. Thanks

In order to use your Thule T2 Pro XT Bike Rack # TH83JV with the 1-1/4" receiver on your new Subaru Outback I recommend the Brophy Hitch Adapter # HTAD. This will provide you with the needed 2" receiver and you can use the Anti-Rattle Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 to secure it to your vehicle and reduce rattle/movement at the connection.
Please just keep in mind that using an adapter like this decreases the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent. Just be sure that the combined weight of the carrier itself (52 pounds) and your loaded bikes doesn't exceed this reduced number.
I did also reach out to my contact at Thule just to be sure there wasn't a replacement 1-1/4" shank for the T2 Pro XT that could be used instead but there is not. The shank cannot be replaced/converted on this particular carrier.
The only other option is to sell your T2 Pro XT for 2" hitches, and put it towards a new compatible bike rack, like the 1-1/4" version of the T2 Pro XT, part # TH23JV.
