Does Curt Echo Allow 12V Power to Pass to Trailer Battery

Question:

HI, I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado with a Factory Tow Package that did not have a factory brake controller installed. I was interested in purchasing the wireless Curt brake controller and wanted to confirm if the travel trailer battery will still charge while connected? Thanks!

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 does share the 12V power with the trailer (page one of the linked install instructions) so your battery will still receive a charge but it will be reduced since the Echo will be diverting some of that power to the trailer brakes when you are braking with your 2017 Chevy Silverado.

If you have a battery charger like the BCDC # 331-BCDC1225D on your trailer which is designed to boost the power received to match what the trailer battery needs then this wouldn't be as great a concern but if you're relying solely on the 12V power from your pickup to charge the battery (which still wouldn't be the greatest option) the Echo would definitely have an effect on that.
