Does the Curt Echo Brake Controller Require a Power Wire To the Battery

i have a jeep renigade 2016 i have a 4 way flat pin that connects to a 7 pin which connects to the trailer does the 4 pin supply 12 volts to the controler o will i have to run a wire from battery,

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 requires a fully functional 7-way trailer connector with active power in order operate. A 4-way will not supply the needed power circuit. The 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L is exactly what you will want to use. This kit comes with the 4 to 7-way adapter plug as well as the power wire, circuit breaker, and wire connectors that is needed. I have attached a sample install video for you as well to assist.
