Troubleshooting Camper Slide-Out That Creeps Out After Being Closed

Question:

Hello If the brake is worn out on a travel trailer slide out motor will this cause the slide not to seal in tight as well creep out while not even moving the trailer? Thanks...

A faulty mechanical brake on your Slide-Out Motor # LC130057 could indeed be what is leading to the slide-out creeping out after being closed in, however my contact at Lippert said the more common cause has to do with the gear packs.

It's possible that when sliding out the room at one point the gears jumped teeth on one side. Then when you go to close it back up the gears aren't aligned properly so one side of the room is forced out. If you notice that just one side or just the top or bottom of the room is creeping out this is likely the problem You would need to re-align the gears by uninstalling the gear pack and putting it back in with the slide-out lined up correctly.

If this isn't the issue then the motor is likely the problem and will need to be replaced.
