Hi! Is there something that I can use to keep the motor warm that is placed on the outside of the motor?

Since difficulty is mostly subjective, I cut out and added on this page the instructions to the Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater - Frost Plug Style # KH11405 that fits your 2008 Chevy Cobalt with a 2.0L I4 Engine (it fits the '07 as well).

What I can say is that the installation of the heater is not overly involved in regards to the amount of steps needed and is something that people will be able to do if they give it a shot.

There is a heater that will be placed on the outside of the engine on your 2008 Chevy Cobalt with a 2.0L I4 engine, the Kat's Heaters Thermostatically Controlled Circulating Tank Heater # KH13080. What this does is connect to the outside of your engine and circulates warm fluid which in turn warms up the engine block. It even has a built-in thermostat which means you can leave it plugged in at night and it will shut off so your fluids don't overheat.
