What Size Wire Gauge Is Needed For a 35 Foot Long Run Using the Optronics LED RV Interior Light
Question:
Im considering adding 3 of these fixtures to a small hunting cabin with no existing power or wiring. My plan is to run off a 12v deep cycle marine type battery, with the longest likely run of 35foot from the battery. Considering the low wattage demand of this fixture, Im wondering if 16 or 18 gauge braided copper wiring would be sufficient. Thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Optronics LED RV Interior Double Dome Light with Switch part # RVILL34 only draws .6 amps so you can run as small as 18 gauge without issue but I do recommend 16 gauge part # 16-1-1 (per foot) to get the best performance. This would give around 11.9 amps at the end of the full 35' long run.
