Comparing The Swagman XTC2 to Swagman Chinook

Question:

Im looking to replace my Jack-it bike rack for something easier to load. I was looking at the Swagman XTC2 or Chinook. I would like to weld it onto the tongue platform of my T@g trailer. Id be replacing the large propane container and box with smaller one. What is your advice on this? Which model do you think would be better. Will be carrying two mountain bikes. Thanks

I recommend going with the Swagman Chinook # S64683 . The Chinook, in my opinion, out-performs the XTC in virtually every category. Not only does the Chinook have a higher weight capacity, it comes with the ability to fold up easily when not in use and has built in locks on the frame mount to keep your bikes secure. The Chinook also has the ability to carry wider tires, like the ones you find on a lot of mountain bikes these days. You're going to have some extra features that you likely won't use-but the ones that are going to come in handy like the fold up and locks are worth the upgrade to the Chinook.

Since the Chinook is a frame mounting rack, if you're carrying a women's bike or a bike with an odd shaped frame, you may want to add the Swagman Frame Adapter # 64005 to make sure that the bike stays in place.

If you didn't want to weld the carrier on to the frame, you could use a dual hitch like the Curt # D-192 which will allow you to mount your bike rack above your ball mount and it might save you guys some extra work.
