Surface Mounted LED Lights for RV to Replace Command # 001-1050 and # 001-1051

Question:

I have 4-1/2inch Diameter LED lights with 6 diodes. They are very flat and surface mounted. I have had the trailer for about 2-1/2 years and the lights are failing. They start blinking. I have replaced one. Since it was hard wired, I had to install plugs. Others have failed since. I have heard that voltage issues can cause problems but I believe that my voltage is OK. In any case, do you have a replacement fixture with replaceable LED elements? That way, I can replace the fixture once and just replace the elements next time. Alternatively, do you have higher quality LEDs than I currently have. They are Command Model 001-1050/1051.

I have a solution for you, but the main issue with puck style lights that mount to the surface of your RV ceiling or under cabinets, is that there aren't replacement bulbs available and they aren't really designed to have the bulbs replaced.

Most LED lights that are designed for use in trailers/RVs are able to use 12v power sources without any issues, so it's probably not your voltage that caused the issues. Usually if one diode goes out, the whole light goes bad and it may have just been a case of the single diode going out causing the light to stop functioning correctly.

With all that being said, the Gustafson RV LED Puck Light # 277-000489 (4-3/8" diameter) will work as a replacement and comes with a push button so that it doesn't require being attached to a switch. They are going to be slightly (1/8") smaller than your previous lights, so I would recommend making sure the mounting holes of the old lights are 4-3/8" apart. If you're at all worried that those lights may not cover up the mounting holes from your previous lights, you can use the Gustafson # 277-000341 (5" diameter) LED lights. I spoke with my contact at Gustafson about the longevity of these lights and they are designed to last for 20,000+ hours of total use.
