Upgrading Equa-Flex Equalizers On a Tandem Axle Trailer with 5,200 Lb Axles

Question:

Looking to upgrade equalizer, plus gain height on rear of trailer. I have an equaflex 5 across 2.25/2.5 up and down center to center. I would like to move the leafs down 2 on frame brackets as well. Looking at the new road armor equalizer would this work? Also want to upgrade to heavy duty wet bolt shackles. Need help with fitment. Axles are 5200lb rating.

The Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit part # LC696740 are a bit too wide for your existing equalizers so if you wanted to use them you would need to cut and weld the front/rear leaf spring hangers further away from the axle, about 1/2" for each side.

The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers part # LC279687 are a better match for your trailer. I know this is what you have now but the new rubber is going to do wonders for your ride quality so it will still be an improvement. The Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Upgrade Kit part # K71-358-00 (Qty. 2) can then be added to complete your setup. I have attached a photo of this for you as well.

In regards to lift, the lower bolt hole on the front and rear hanger will give you another 1" or so but if you want more than this then you would have to go with the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX which offers 2-1/4" of lift.
