Theft Deterrent Tonneau Cover Option For 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
Ive noticed where a lot of the covers i like have that pull line in the back to open the back part. I have also seen where a coat hook can open it and there goes what ever you may have in the back. Do they make anything that would block that area so a coat hook would not work? Im interested in the extang encore front and rear opens. Will this fit a 2020 1500 silverado short bed? Thanks, JMB

You are correct when you say that the cable can be pulled to disengage the lock on the folding tonneau covers with a coat hanger if an experienced thief really wanted to do so. The Encore cover is a great locking option that will deter thieves but if someone really wants into the bed of the truck they are going to figure out a way to pull the cable mechanism to disengage the lock.
Since you are concerned about safety, I recommend to use the Extang Xceed Hard Tonneau Cover part # EX85456 because the designed does not allow the tailgate panel to open unless the tailgate is unlocked and pulled down. The latch to unlock the panel cannot be accessed unless the tailgate is down. This cover is for a 5-3/4 foot bed.
If your truck is a 6-1/2 foot bed, I recommend Extang Xceed Hard Tonneau Cover part # EX85457.
