Trailer Brakes Locking Up When Stepping on Brake Pedal with Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller

We step on the brakes only the red. Comes on in the brakes completely lock up on the trailer

If the trailer brakes are completely locking up when pressing on the brake pedal with the Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller # 5504 installed most likely the output setting just needs to be adjusted.
To reduce the brake output simply slide the output knob at the front of the unit (on the left side) slightly to the right. I recommend taking the trailer out for a controlled test-drive around an empty parking lot to really fine tune this setting. Tap on the brakes and if they still seem to aggressive, slide the knob a bit more to the right. Repeat this process until you are comfortable with how the trailer brakes respond.
