If the level trailer coupler height is greater than the height of the receiver on your Grand Cherokee, you will need a weight distribution shank with a rise. The closest I can get you to 12 inches of rise would be the 11-1/2 inches of rise provided by the # RP3215. The RP3344 is designed for use in the drop position only.
The towing capacity of your vehicle can vary widely depending on the engine/transmission combo. Be sure to consult your owners manual to ensure you are not exceeding the vehicles tow rating. Using a weight distribution might raise the capacity of a receiver hitch, but will NOT raise the towing capacity of the vehicle. You will still be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component in your towing system.
