Normally when the Tekonsha Brake controller part # 90195 says no trailer connected there is an issue with the trailer connectors pins on the vehicle or trailer side. Take a look at your connector and make sure there is not any rust on the pins or bent pins. If there is rust on the pins you can lightly sand it off with a fine grit sandpaper. If there are bents pins the connector will most likely need to be replaced.
If your connectors are in good condition, then there is an issue with the brake output circuit. Check the brake output circuit on the 7-way with a circuit tester like part # PTW2979 while you activate the manual override option on the brake controller. If you get power at the brake output circuit when the brakes are pressed then the issue is with the trailer wiring. You mentioned you already checked the grounds on the trailer. It is a good idea to trace the brake output wire back on the trailer checking for frayed or damaged wire.
If you do not get power on the brake output circuit when you hit the manual override then you may have a blown fuse in the vehicle. If your vehicle was equipped with a tow package or has fuses dedicated to trailer towing you want to find those locations in the owners manual and check the fuses.
