Roof Cargo Box Recommendation For A 2014 Mazda 5

Question:

Looking to purchase a cargo box for our 2014 Mazda 5. Most important to us is that it would be able to hold a large and small suitcase and maybe a few other items. Will this roof box hold luggage and if so, how much? Is there a better option for luggage?

The Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box # TH615 is a fine option for rooftop cargo and is my recommendation. Having a weight capacity of 110lbs and 16 cubic feet of carrying capacity would be the key considerations as far as how much luggage it will hold. The internal dimensions are 72" long x 31" wide and the height of the box is 14-1/2" tall inside the box.

Remember you are always limited by your lowest rated component so consulting your owners manual for weight limits is recommended. Also important is the rear hatch clearance. The Pulse requires 46-3/8" between the center of the front crossbar and the line where the roof and hatch meet.
