Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for 1991 Scotty 17 ft Camper
Question:
I have an 08 Yukon XL towing a 91 Scotty 17 foot camper. Any time I get over 60 mph or a semi passes, I get the dreaded death wobble. Im looking to get things stabilized so we can enjoy the trip. The gross TW is 700 #s and the frame measures 2 inches wide by 3 inches high. Is this the correct set up for this and does it fit this size frame? I see that most trailer frames are 4 inches high.

You will be able to use the Pro Series Weight Distribution System # PS49902 , but I don't feel like it will be the best choice since you'll be required to get out of the truck and disconnect the spring bars every time you want to back up.
I recommend going with the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System # HT32217 because the Husky system does allow you to back up with it attached, making it much easier to use. The Husky also uses brackets that "sandwich" the frame of the trailer instead of a bracket that drapes over the side of the frame- this is going to provide a better fit for your specific trailer compared to the Pro Series. The Husky includes a hitch ball and shank, so everything you need to tow is provided.
