Troubleshooting Intermittent Trailer Connection Message on Dash of Truck

I just purchased a used rv and hooked it to my truck. The dash reads trailer connected and then all of the sudden reads trailer disconnected If I manually apply the brakes with the dash lever it will change to trailer connected

This is a pretty common issue and the solution is typically to just a matter of cleaning off the pins of the trailer wiring connectors as corrosion has accumulated to the point that the trailer wiring connection is intermittent. Take some sandpaper to the pins and you should see the problem go away.
