How To Add Larger Tires to a 2016 Coachmen Forest River Clipper Pop Up Camper For Use Off-Road

Question:

I have a 2016 Forest River A-frame camper and would Ike to replace the 3500 lb Lippert torsion axle and 13” wheels with a Timbren system and 17” wheels to match my 2018 Subaru Outback. The main goal is to get the trailer lifted for light-duty off-road use. Which axle-less suspension and hub assembly would I use? Can I use my existing electric brakes?

Expert Reply:

The correct Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension for you is going to be part # ASR3500S06 because it offers the 4" lift that you will need to clear larger tires on your pop-up camper. It looks like the wheels on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon have a 5x115mm bolt pattern which is the same as 5 on 4-1/2" so you will be able to reuse the hubs/drums and braking assemblies you have now.
