Is It Hard To Install a Pin Box On Your Own
Question:
I’ve been in conversation with Conner L about pin box replacement. I am running into some issues with RV dealerships that do not want to do that type of work. I imagine these pin boxes are rather heavy is it something the common man can replace? Many of the RV dealerships only want to change your hitch in your vehicle but not the RV.

It is not hard per say to replace a pin box like the Lippert 1621 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC1387883 on a trailer as it is just nuts and bolts but the pin boxes are pretty heavy (+/- 150 lbs). I am not sure why you are having trouble finding a service center that will do this for you as it's pretty standard practice but it is doable yourself. If you don't have a forklift which is what most will use you can call a few friends over to hold the pin box while one person unthreads the bolts and then drop it down. There won't be any welding required just heavy lifting.
