Is Valley Powerpull 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible with Reese Industry Standard Truck Bed Mounting Rails

Question:

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 8foot bed with a Valley Powerpull Model 70548 CP 5th wheel hitch installed. I recently bought a new 2018 Ram 3500 8foot bed without the OEM prep package. Will the RP50085-58 work for both my truck and the existing Valley Powerpull Model 70548 CP 5th wheel hitch I already have?

The Reese # RP50085-58 bracket/rail kit is compatible with your truck. If memory serves correctly, the Valley PowerPull was compatible with the industry standard bed rails that Reese (and other companies) uses. You can confirm this for yourself by measuring the spacing of your hitch mounting tabs that insert into the rails front to back and side to side, center on center. Compare the results with the photo I've edited for you.

The tabs, when measured front to back should be about 22 inches apart, center tab to center tab. When measured side to side, if they're 10, 20-1/2 or 29 inches apart, center on center, you're good to go!

To install a trailer connector in the bed, I'd recommend the Hopkins # 41157. You can see the harness being installed on an older Ram 3500 by using the provided link.
