Can Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA Be Mounted in Front on Kia Optima and Run Off a Switch
Question:
I was thinking about using this item for my front license plate of my kia optima, and was wondering if I could install it so that the beeping sounds comes from inside the car and not from outside, also if you sell a switch for this so it can be turned on only when needed for parking? Thank you

The way the Hopkins Backup Sensor System, # HM60100VA, works as that when there is power applied to it, the sensors will begin trying to sense any obstructions. This ideal for the rear of the vehicle because it is meant to be attached to the reverse light circuit.
You could wire it into a 12 volt ignition source (power that is only active with the vehicle running) and have it on a switch like # BL0108-00. You would need to wire the power wire from the systems to the switch and then have a separate wire running to the 12 volt ignition source. Turning on the switch would activate the system.
There should be plenty of wire to have the alert inside the vehicle (it is designed this way).
Another option is to wire the unit into the running lights. By turning on the running lights, you activate the system. However, it could go off at inopportune times such as when in traffic at night.
