Crossbar Spread Required for Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box

Question:

Hi Guys, I was looking at this box for my Fusion and was curious if it would work with my setup. As you know, Ford seals a lot of the trunk space for batteries and our last Thanksgiving trip ended up going through a snow storm and the bag didnt do so well and in turn, neither did the stuff on the roof. Looking for a big box instead now. We also have a Subaru Forester with factory rails that we use for shorter offroad trips. I am assuming it will have no problem on the Forester, correct? If Im good to go, I will order this box ASAP. Thanks in advance

I'm certainly sorry to hear about the cargo bag issue you had going through a snow storm. Cargo bags are really handy and easy to manage but weather can be an issue so you are smart to go with a cargo box.

The Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box # TRX34FR you referenced uses U-bolts that will work on crossbar spreads from 22 inches to 31 inches and the spread of the SportRack Roof Rack # SR1010 on your Ford Fusion is going to be in that range so it is definitely going to work. The cargo box will also work on your Subaru Forester without issue.

The only thing to note is that it will require drilling holes in the box for your crossbar spreads, which will allow the U-bolts to attach to the crossbars, though doing this won't affect the way the box protects your gear.
