Installation and Positioning of Standoffs on Surco Universal Exterior RV Ladder SP502L

Question:

The backing supports are approximately 15” on center on my RV. The ladder rails are 12”” apart. Will the standoffs mount on the back supports at 15” on center and attach to the rails that are 12” apart?

I believe you are referring to the studs on the back wall of your RV being 15 inches on center. If this is the case, the standoffs included with the Surco Universal Exterior RV Ladder # SP502L will not be able to be install at a distance wider than the ladder itself which is 12 inches. This width is pretty standard for RV exterior ladders so we do not carry a ladder that is 15" wide.

I would recommend installing one set of standoffs (either the two left or the two right ones) along one of the studs on your RV's wall. The other set will then need to be installed 12 inches apart, on the plain wall.

Please keep in mind that the provided standoffs are only optional (for additional support) and not required for installation and while it would be ideal to mount them to the existing studs on your RV's wall, it's perfectly safe to install them anywhere along the wall.
