Is Visible Grease and Inner Race movement Normal for 50MM Nev-R-Lube Bearing

Question:

I have a 5th wheel with 8000 lb axles , there is no play in the wheel. However when I remove the drum there is a little grease and some play with the inner race where moves when off the axle, should I be concerned? Thanks in advance.

I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle and he said that the little bit of grease you are seeing is normal for the 50MM Nev-R-Lube Bearing # 31-71-3. The race that you mentioned should be able to rotate but it should not be moving in and out. If it is moving in and out then you need to replace the bearing.
