Locating Replacement Axle for 1998 Hudson Trailer with Mobile Home Hubs

Question:

I have a 98 Hudson Trailer I just bought and found out it has a bent axle. I have been looking through your website but can’t find the right one so maybe you can steer me in the direction I need to go. It’s a p-21 model slr, the axle measures 87 1/2 from face to face and the closest thing you have is 86 1/2. The hubs are mobile home type. Have you ever ran int this? Thanks for your help!!!!

You are correct that the closest standard trailer axles we have available to the hub face length you mentioned are 86-1/2" units such as the Dexter 5,200 pound # 8327816 or the 6,000 pound # 8327826. Please keep in mind that when selecting a replacement axle you also need to make sure it matches the capacity of the existing model.

Since we don't have any standard units that match the dimensions of what you have the best option I can offer is a Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System. These are excellent systems that feature independent suspension units that typically eliminate the need for a thru-axle altogether. They will fit any trailer frame width so your hub face length doesn't matter and they provide a much smoother ride compared to standard axles.

You also mentioned that your current hubs are mobile home types. It is important to note that mobile home components are really only intended for one-time use, so I highly recommend upgrading to new hub assemblies as well.

If you can tell me the weight capacity of your axle I will be happy to make a specific recommendation. I have also included a short video demonstration on the Timbren Axle-Less Systems below just so you can see exactly how they install and operate.
