RockyMounts WestSlope 2 Bike Rack Bumper and Ground Clearance With Curt Hitch 13144

Question:

Will there be any clearance issues with the RockyMounts Westslope 2 bike rack on a 2014 Subaru Forester with a 2inch Curt hitch #13144? In particular, can this rack fold up vertically without contacting the bumper or hatch? Semi-steep driveway clearance is a concern, so this rack seems like a good option if it can clear the bumper adequately.

I am happy to alleviate any clearance concerns about the RockyMounts Westslope 2 bike rack part # RKY10222 on a 2014 Subaru Forester with the Curt Hitch part # C13144. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13144 installed on a 2014 Subaru Forester measures 3-1/2" from the hitch pin hole to outermost part of the bumper. The shank of the bike rack measures 5" from the shank hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when folded up so you will have about 1-1/2" of clearance from the bumper when the rack is folded up.

The Curt Hitch also has about 14 inches of clearance from the top of the hitch to the ground on a Subaru Forester as well. The shank of the RockyMounts also has a 9" rise so it is less likely to bottom out when driving down a steep drive way compared to the other bike rack options that have a straight shank. The RockyMounts is a wheel mount option so it carries the bikes by the wheels only which is great for delicate carbon fiber frames. I recommend to get the cable lock and hitch lock part # RKY10224 to protect your investment.
