Is the Sway Bar Removed During Installation of the Curt Front Mount Hitch on a 1996 Ford F-150
Question:
I have been looking at this item for a bit now. On the f350 the frame is flat on the bottom and I see pictures online showing that the sway bar is still installed. But on my f150 the frame is made to collapse there so I see that it is mounted with the sway bar plate. But I have not seen it mentioned anywhere to remove the sway bar..

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said the front sway bar on your 1996 Ford F-150 stays in place. You only need to remove the bolts holding the sway bar plate and enlarge those holes to 1/2 inch diameter. The hitch comes with new hardware to replace those bolts you discard.
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch, # 31026, will be mounted to the sway bar plate.
