Best Gear for 2018 Ram 2500 When Towing Trailer Slowly Up Steep Hills
Question:
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 diesel. If I’m towing up a steep grade 25 1mi. or less speed approx. 20- 25 mph would it be good to use 4 wheel drive on pavement ? Travel trailer approx. 9000 + lbs.

I took a look at the owner's manual for your 2018 Ram 2500 and it said for this particular truck it's best to hold it in first gear (using the ERS shift control) when towing a trailer up steeper grades at low speeds. This will help to prevent the transmission from getting too hot.
When you're towing in hilly areas it also recommends activating the TOW/HAUL mode to further improve performance and extend the transmission's lifespan.
