Will the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller Work While Listening to Spotify and Using Apple Maps

Question:

I understand the Echo brake controller is not compatible with Apple Play. I am trying to understand any compatibility issues before purchasing for my daughter. My understanding is she does not use Apple Play. Her phone is an I phone, newest version. She uses the maps application installed on I phone for GPS.The preferred music app is Spotify. I read many QandAs finally got worn out. If I understand right, any app using WiFi is not affected by the brake controller. As long as you are not a complete idiot. You set the controller and forget it, in most cases. It is using blue-tooth? Am I close or way off? I saw where videos can be played, etc. Thank you,

The Echo Smart Control App for the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 will work in the background so you can play music on Spotify and follow directions from Apple Maps while using the Curt Echo. The Curt Echo will work with all non-Bluetooth controlled apps.
