I tracked down the online version of the owner's manual for your 2013 Dodge Journey Crew and it lists a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds if you have the 2.4L engine or up to 2,500 pounds if you have the larger 3.6L engine. This particular capacity though is dependent on only having 1 to 2 persons in the vehicle. The capacity goes down as the number of occupants grows:

3 to 4 persons - 2,000 pound capacity
5 to 7 persons - 1,500 pound capacity

To set your Journey up for towing you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and a ball mount/hitch ball combo.

If you don't already have a hitch installed I recommend the etrailer.com # e988845 that allows for a simple bolt-on installation using existing holes in the vehicle's frame rails, features more than enough capacity for towing, has a unique matte black finish that prevents scratching, and is made right here in the USA. I have included an installation video that you can use for reference.

Then for wiring I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56330 if your Journey has LED tail lights or the Curt # C56109 if it has the standard incandescent bulb tail lights. Both are custom options that install by simply plugging into factory ports behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. It will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with and power a trailer's basic signal lights.

I have attached a great article below that will help you determine what the best ball mount is for your particular setup. I have also included a link that will take you to our complete selection.
